Bread-y or not, Thanksgiving travel has crumb!
With the holidays approaching, air travel is on the rise. At John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH), we’re predicting the busiest travel days since the start of the pandemic between Tuesday, November 23, and Monday, November 29. Around 155,500 airline seats are scheduled to depart CMH between Thursday, November 18, and Monday, November 29.
- Tuesday, Nov. 23: 14,500 scheduled departing airline seats
- Wednesday, Nov. 24: 14,900 scheduled departing airline seats
- Sunday, Nov. 28: 14,700 scheduled departing airline seats
- Monday, Nov. 29: 14,800 scheduled departing airline seats
Before the bird

Stuffing your suitcase
- Start with empty bags to ensure no prohibited items make their way to the airport.
- Masks are required on shuttle buses, in the airport and aboard aircraft so make sure to mask up and pack extras.
- Liquid hand sanitizer up to 12 ounces is permitted in carry-on bags. All other liquid carry-ons must not exceed 3.4 ounces.
Be on thyme
- Time your trip perfectly by checking your flight status, signing up to receive alerts from your airline, or contacting your airline for up to date information.
- Be sure to factor in parking time. CMH parking lot shuttles depart for the terminal every 15-18 minutes.
- Sign up for ezPark for faster entry and exit of CMH parking lots and garages next time you fly.
- Arrive two hours before departure for domestic flights, or three hours for international flights, to allow plenty of time to get through ticketing and security.
Eat, drink and cranberry
- If you’re planning to shop or grab a bite to eat at the airport, make sure to check out a listing of current shop and restaurant hours, including CMH’s newest restaurant, Hangar 815.
- If Thanksgiving wouldn’t be complete without your famous pumpkin pie or homemade gravy, make sure it’s packed properly with TSA’s list of permitted food items.
- Stay hydrated by bringing an empty water bottle and filling up at a water station post-security.
