COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA) President & CEO Joseph R. Nardone today announced that there are only two months until the 2024 CMH Runway 5K Run & Walk takes off. The event is put on by the CRAA Community Fund, a 501(c)3 organization powered by CRAA employees who volunteer their time and effort.
“Our past five races have raised more than $347,000 for Honor Flight Columbus to recognize Central Ohio’s military heroes,” said Nardone. “While Honor Flight provides a unique experience for our veterans, this year’s race will be unique, as well, because it will take place on the taxiway at John Glenn International, alongside the active runway, and participants will be able to see flights take off and land during the race.”
Video of the planned course is available on PhotoShelter or by pressing play above.
This will be the sixth year for the CMH Runway 5K and participants will receive a t-shirt, commemorative medal, and swag bag. The event will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at John Glenn Columbus International Airport with a goal to raise enough money to fund a full flight of veterans who travel with Honor Flight Columbus to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor. CMH Runway 5K is part of the 2024 RUNColumbus Race Series. Register or sign up to volunteer at runsignup.com/cmh5K.
In 2023, participants came from 22 states and ranged in age from an infant to 83 years old. The farthest distance traveled by a participant was 2,390 miles, coming from Seattle to participate.
