On Friday, July 16, the Columbus Regional Airport Authority celebrated Breeze Airways’ inaugural flight from John Glenn Columbus International Airport to New Orleans, Louisiana. Airport and community officials along with passengers commemorated the occasion with a gate party to welcome the new airline to CMH.
The inaugural flight was marked by a ceremonial champagne christening of the aircraft and water cannon salute during takeoff. New Orleans is one of five routes served by the airline out of CMH.
The airline’s investment represents an estimated $81 million annual economic impact in the Columbus region. Business and industry ties to Columbus currently exist for all five destinations, creating new economic development possibilities for the region and state.
