Travelers passing through John Glenn Columbus International Airport can experience more than just the journey ahead; they can discover the creative spirit of Ohio, too.
Located on the ticketing level, Gateway to the Arts is a rotating gallery space featuring the work of talented local artists through a partnership between the Ohio Art League (OAL) and the Columbus Regional Airport Authority. Every two months, a new collection of artwork is installed, offering visitors a fresh glimpse into the stories, perspectives, and creativity that define our region.
Now on display: Accessible Expressions Ohio
The current exhibition, on display through November, is titled Accessible Expressions Ohio, presented in partnership with Art Possible Ohio.
This statewide juried exhibition features 2D and 3D works by Ohio artists with disabilities, representing a wide range of ages, experiences, and artistic styles. Since its debut in 1996, Accessible Expressions Ohio has showcased the work of more than 1,850 artists, celebrating the ways accessibility, creativity, and inclusion intersect in the arts.
This year’s featured artists include: Flint Garrabrant, Meira Berger, Megan Howard, Josalan Credlebaugh, Lacey Yontz, Emily Strange, Hope Hooper, Clarence R., Marianne Philip, Kathy German, Grace Gielink, Kat Greene, Minnie Lucas, April Morrison, Agnes Quigley, DiNnovati, Jared Doze, Tara Murphy, TJ Sikora, Holly Yarab, Xander Coomer, Adrienne Young, Steve Edinger, and Paul Laage.
Art Possible Ohio poses an important question through this collection: “What does access mean in the art world? What would it look like for all artists to have the same opportunities, no matter their identities?”
Accessible Expressions Ohio is one answer: a celebration of creativity that is open to all.
