New nonstop to LA departing daily

A United Airlines Boeing 737-900 blasts down the runway on a cloudy morning.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus Regional Airport Authority President & CEO Daren Griffin celebrated the launch of United Airlines’ new daily nonstop flight from John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

“We are thrilled to welcome United Airlines’ new nonstop service to Los Angeles, a top destination for our travelers,” said Griffin. “This route is a direct response to the needs of our community and the strong demand we continue to see. We appreciate United’s partnership and their continued investment in expanding air service in Central Ohio.”

“With the launch of our new nonstop route between Columbus and Los Angeles, we’re excited to bring greater access between the two cities,” said Mark Weithofer, United’s Managing Director of Domestic Network Planning. “This is not only an exciting addition to United’s route network but also provides our customers with convenient access to both Los Angeles and destinations around the globe.”

Passengers were greeted at their gate with a celebration to mark the occasion, complete with a water cannon salute at departure.

This option is one of nine new flights that have been announced for 2026. In addition to their new flight to LAX, United is doubling its CMH service to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) this summer.
